I just don’t believe “We need more Corettas,” levied at women in a condemning, patriarchal, misogynistic, condescending manner, is a humane way to engage, even in referring to her attire. Nor is it intelligent, uplifting discourse. My mother was phenomenal. And love was her core.

I have long been fascinated by all the women’s fraternal orders from the 19th and early 20th centuries. So much work to be done about those women. Hope these links help. You might also check out Paul Ortiz’s Emancipation Betrayed which is again about the dudes but also helpful.
