She kicked the hell out of me when I was a resident and was one of my best allies as an attending. She was a foundational pillar of the Kings County Emergency Department and she will be sorely missed by patients, nurses, staff, and physicians alike.

SCD: Got a patient with really low Hgb? There are a few possibilities. Check a few labs and feel that belly. Transfusion helps.

SCD: Wizard Level Tx. Oral fluids. APAP. IV/IM opiates then PCA for pain. Incentive spirometer. D5 ½ norm Bicarb for fluids. ??SDD Ketamine.

SCD: How bad is Acute Chest? Really bad. Looks JUST like PNA. Tx with same ABX. Start exchange transfusion. Tx hypoxia.

SCD: Avoid supplemental oxygen unless they are hypoxic. Superoxia leads to decreased erythropoietin and bone marrow suppression.
