Want a premium view of the demolition of the cooling towers at Ferrybridge on Sunday? We're the place to be! Timings for the demolition haven't been confirmed yet but The Liquorice Cafe is open from 9am so you can grab yourself a bacon butty and a nice cuppa while you wait.

Maiya found a claypipe and it's got her initials on it! I like to think it's been waiting in the ground for her for a few hundred years

💥Our first finds from ! This musket ball (left) and piece of grapeshot (right) were probably both fired during the English Civil War when Pontefract Castle was under siege in the 1640s

Trying really hard to keep a straight face to show that we’re serious archaeologists but it’s impossible to resist a smile when the sun is shining and we’ve got our very first glimpse of the castle’s medieval gatehouse!! 😁🏰☀️

So what if it’s raining? Today we’re super happy because we just started a BRAND NEW dig at which means we get to spend the next five weeks unearthing the gatehouse that protected the castle’s main entrance in the 1300s! 🙌🏰✨
