Even at a fraction of pre-COVID daily ridership, 2.7 million daily bus and subway riders is 3x the 850k tolled bridge/tunnel riders, another indication that we can't have a car-based recovery.

Restaurants are still building their enclosures. This one just painted theirs last week. We should let them use them year-round if they want to, not require them to dismantle them in 5 weeks.

My dad gave up motorcycling in the city back in the 70s after a close call with a truck running a red light. Thankfully I was born, enabling me to ride a bicycle all over the city. Of course I'm constantly playing my "favorite" game: which driver is going to try to kill me.

My kid wears his bike helmet and mask at preschool a little too much. And on the one hand, yay, and on the other hand makes me a little sad.

Same. I mean I've been biking but not very far and very with pedal assist.

NYers: bikes are rad, we're biking in record numbers! NY Administration: "Is there like... more ways we can make biking dangerous and inefficient? Can we do it to people who are just walking at the same time?"

For context, there are virtually no tourists in NYC these days + Manhattan offices are at 10% occupancy. I’d say these numbers are remarkable, but for those of us who believe in the intrinsic value of cycling, it’s no surprise. , is resilient and essential.

My new bike has them. One actually is quick release through. The other is hopefully openable with one 6 and one 5.5mm hex. PS I've never in my life changed a bike tire, but I have all the tools.

Just saw a tow truck rally. They had flags that said, I'm not making this up, tow lives matter. It was causing a traffic jam on the FDR. They also drove past a lot of illegally parked vehicles. So apparently towing doesn't, in fact, matter.

An extended family member of mine passed away recently and his obituary asked people to dedicate themselves to "rescuing our democracy from fascism." The New York Times refused to print the phrase "from fascism."
