A brass band at the seaside, is there anything nicer? The band certainly didnt think so as we made the most of the break in the relentless rain and set up on the seafront for our concert at Lyme Regis. A lovely day was had by all and we look forward to returning in September.

On Sunday the band are at Lyme Regis from 11:30am to 2pm. If you are holidaying in the area and ‘fancy a blow’ you’d be more than welcome. Get in touch if you play cornet, Bb/Eb bass or bass tromb and we’ll let you have further details and can make sure an instrument is there.

A personal thanks to our MD; David for all his hard work and who has slotted so nicely back into his role since re-joining the band last year. We are also extremely grateful to our helpers, players that ‘moved seat’ and to Colin and Claire that made a return, come back soon! 2/3

After what already seems a long day from an early start, the results are in which the band placed 9th in the second section of West of England areas, which is certainly an achievement I’m sure you’ll agree! 1/3

WestS2: A Phoenix that very nearly rose from the flames without leaving a damaging scotch mark or two from the aptly named Phoenix Brass (Crewekerne). Not bad that
