One of the most striking things about spending the last three months in Ireland is how little hear about Brexit. Was here for four weeks last summer and seemed to be constant. Now it's only the occasional dispatch. If it's like that here, can only imagine rest of EU....

Unfortunately I have been excluded from Parliament and disenfranchised by the new Parliamentary voting system. Medical advice is for me to stay at home, and where we had a perfectly workable remote voting system Jacob Rees Mogg has chosen to scrap it so his PM looks better.

I remember 4am on Trump election night, on 5th Avenue w/ . Filed piece on my phone from a crowd of aggressive Trump supporters. I used word the 'fascism' in the opening par of my copy. Was edited out. But it was clear then where US was going

I was a child when Yugoslavia dissolved & during the Bosnian War; my family made refugees. Now I'm a scholar of reactionary, illiberal/authoritarian regimes. There's not many off-ramps left, America. This is extraordinary; you & your elected officials must respond accordingly.
