Back at you. A collective effort I am so pleased to have been a part of. A rare but very significant win for women in NSW.

Q by Lismore MP Janelle Saffin: “Why are you shortchanging senior disability pensioners and carers by excluding them from the $250 Regional Seniors Travel Card”? Minister Toole can’t defend it. It’s a broken election promise, they let all seniors think they’d be eligible.

Q by : “Will the Premier rule out privatising TAFE?” She failed to with this morning. Premier howled down in chamber after five minutes of dodging. Says she will not sell off but leaves wide open door to private sector takeover. Watch this space.

Q to : “Do you support spending $1.5 billion to relocate the Powerhouse Museum instead of using these funds to help rural and regional NSW?” It’s buried under an avalanche of blather but his short answer is - yes he supports it. His constituents aren’t amused.

Communities understand the value of TAFE. People from around the world come and visit and understand how it works. The only people who talk about TAFE being a "second class' option are Liberals & Nationals when they are about to wield the knife for further cuts or privatisation.

Under the Liberal Government TAFE has been cut to the bone. Courses have been cut. Campuses sold off. Students in rural & regional areas have been forced to travel long distances to access courses that used to be available in their home town. Or access online resources only.

NSW TAFE provides second chance education for so many to get the skills they need to enter the workforce, TAFE trains digital creatives and those in the arts. In tourism, hospitality and community work TAFE provides the training communities and businesses need.

For training for the skills that NSW needs, TAFE trains our apprentices, our childcare, aged care and our disability workers. It retrains workers in our changing world of work...

Ignore the headline - this is about privatising TAFE. Despite the massive cuts inflicted on TAFE under the current government, a world class vocational training system is NSW TAFE. TAFE needs proper investment not further cuts.
