Who was that barrelling big man giving it a hoof at Moorabbin this morning? Sure looked like Darren Dempsey, a member of ’s 10,000-run club. Sign him up, Superules.

Port Melbourne had to rebuild its backline this year and Harvey Hooper has become a pillar of it. He’s had five mentions in the best, is averaging 21.7 disposals and five marks, and would probably be in the top-three in the best and fairest.Another good young VFL player to watch

Been a tough start to the VFL season for Frankston, but that’s no fault of Aloysio Ferreira. He’s averaging 20.5 possessions from his six matches, there is a touch of class to him and AFL clubs are making calls to the Dolphins.

It was Noble Park FC’s lucky day when Ariek ‘Dell’ Lual walked in off the street looking for a game. Turns out he’d been a prominent under-age player in South Australia. He’s a tall defender with loads of talent. VFL clubs should jump on him.

Nothing official from @subbiesclub Malvern, but former Richmond and Camberwell Magpies batsman Tom Rickarby being linked with the Roosters. He'd be a terrific pick-up (3536 runs in ).

VFL clubs looking for key defenders should put a watch on Kris Feehan from Dingley. He's a good young player and tomorrow he'll represent the Southern league in the community championships against Riddell District.
