Lovely meet with mums in this morning. Peer support when you're struggling with your mental health can be so beneficial.

My daughter is 10 very soon and I have a mixture of pride and 'oh my god I've been a parent for a decade'

I often feel like I have to apologise for my behaviour when I have an anxiety attack. It's impossible to explain in the moment what I'm feeling and going through. Some don't seem to understand what I'm suffering through

What bit of advice would you give to a mum struggling with anxiety?

My therapist showed me that even in that dark moment where I felt helpless and out of control, my control was in fact still there!! I knew what was happening & therefore it wasn’t all consuming. I could still fight it.

Accepting there are bad/good days and being prepared for both. Find the right self care for you and have the support/space to look after yourself. Be selfish and say no. Find a mentor, talk/email/text often. Celebrate small steps

Thankfully I've been ok with my 2nd but with my 1st I was scared I would drop him out of the window (my bedroom is on the top floor of our house). I wouldn't go near the window, even to open/ shut the curtains. That feeling of constant fear was horrendous

I still go through stages of what I call ‘stress cleaning’ when I can feel anxiety building up- a way of keeping busy as I know if I stop I would feel I could sink.
