Some PCC’s will increase by the full amount, others may not. I get the local element is important but it shouldn’t be as big as it is. Central funding is key. More money is good, I’ve said so, but funding formulas need to be fair.

No need for me to know but it’s clearly going to be a big influencer for policing. Just keen to know more.

My response to the Government’s announcement on police finding. “The government has listened and started to invest in policing but once again the buck has been passed to Police and Crime Commissioners and local tax payers. This is simply unfair.”

The Policing Minister has made a statement to Parliament about the police funding announcement. Big push for Forces to make ‘continued efficiency savings’ which never turns out well! Also, first I’d heard of BlueLight Commercial.

I get that and I could spend my time lambasting the Government for giving us back what they slashed in the first place. We have a new PM and in effect a new Government so I have to give them a chance. So far some good stuff has happened, but not enough!

We had almost 22000 police officer posts removed over the past 10 years along with 1000’s of police staff.

Big announcement on police funding. We are crunching the numbers so will respond shortly. On the face of it, a genuine increase but a big reliance on local PCC’s increasing the policing part of the council tax. Overall more positive than previous years (which wasn’t hard)!

When you meet the parents of someone who took their own life inside one of our jails it’s heartbreaking. We need to work together to sort this mess out.

What’s your thoughts on using the word Retired or Police Veteran?

The card has been launched to provide welfare support for Victoria Police officers once they have finished their career in policing, in recognition and appreciation of their service to the Victorian community.

Great to see has introduced a Police Veteran Card for retired police officers. With the Police Covenant being created this is a great opportunity to do similar here?

Michael was a big supporter of policing and has helped to ensure those colleagues we have lost are never forgotten. Proud to know his widow Geraldine Winner who continues the great work he started.
