My new book, 'This Land', out in September. Socialist, antifascist, Guardian columnist, author, losing my Northern accent every passing day. Sad.

Striking how far right activists have infiltrated the anti-lockdown movement. The guy in the Chelsea shirt was one of the Tommy Robinson supporters who surrounded me near Parliament last year

To clarify: I didn't mean Jewish people with an emotional connection to Israel and Jewish people who oppose the occupation are separate groups. As the book explores, most Jews feel some sort of relationship with Israel and many of those are also against the occupation.

Kamaljit Chana, a Conservative councillor in Harrow, said “Muslims are violent” & “I do not like Muslims" Bristol employment tribunal found against Chana haven't taken *any* action & await a complaint (despite this Sunday Times piece)

Genuinely can't wait to read the new book by - it touches on a topic I've spoken about a lot recently with friends and reflected on in the last few months. Very interested to hear his conclusions

Today Eric Hobsbawm is often described as a great historian despite his Marxism – but the opposite is true: Hobsbawm's Marxist perspective imbued his work with a unique historical understanding.

Hi - what I meant was that these are overlapping groups - that many Jews have an emotional connection to Israel (which I explore in the book) AND that many of those also oppose the occupation.

Corbynism was often portrayed as an intolerant authoritarian cult, but some Labour MPs opposed to the leadership were unbelievably unpleasant, which I detail in my new book THIS LAND. Most Labour MPs aren't like that: but the behaviour of some was awful.

I was never a fan of Jeremy Corbyn, but the way he's still a prime target for media jokes several months after he stopped being Labour leader, at a time when government incompetence is literally getting people killed, stinks.

Hi! I've done lots of columns and videos about the social crisis, not sure why that doesn't mean an odd tweet ridiculing a client press inadvertently underlining how divorced from people's lives the Prime Minister is!

we've heard a lot in recent years about what the liberal centre is against, less about what it's for. But if it wants to stop Trump and Johnson ultimately being replaced by something even worse, it has to accept the need for major social reform. More here:
