GREAT JOB! Orangutans do in fact belong to the genus Pongo! There are three species in this genus: Pongo pygmaeus (Bornean), abelii (Sumatran), and tapanuliensis (Tapanuli) There are also three subspecies of Pongo pygmaeus... pygmaeus, wurmbii, and morio 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

WOW! Awesome job everyone! The majority of you were correct! The three species of Orangutan are: Pongo pygmaeus, Pongo abelii, and Pongo tapanuliensis. gets extra credit for pointing out the three subspecies of Bornean orangutans!
