"Gathering For Justice" to Srdja Popovic to "SOSx" and appealing to Western environmentalists [a la Indio Maiz in Nicaragua] to direct funds to a Miami Bolivian yogi and an anti-Morales NGO... this emerging campaign to target Bolivia touches all the astroturf NGO/CIA bases.

Sarsour getting in on the ground floor of this burgeoning, "pro-democracy" SOSBolivia astroturf operation finally makes the NGO-inside-the-empire to NGOs-serving-empire-abroad relationship plain as day, I hope.

It's funny because there actually is a floundering "SOSAmerica" NGO op run by earnest liberals mimicking these foreign operations, blissfully ignorant that their efforts will never catch on in the US the way they do abroad without active intelligence agency financing/support.

My curiosity about this Miami-based "waterthruskin" former banker turned yoga instructor lifestyle blog now closely aligned with suspicious NGOs in Bolivia and now laundering over $87k of donations for them to "fight fires" is officially piqued...

So fucking weird. But it reminds me of how Nicaragua mostly had the b-team of operatives, too. I think the US' regime change operative stable must be desperately taxed by its continued efforts in Venezuela.

VACA-daza's thesis (2016). guess which South American "authoritarian regimes" JVD chose for her comparison. Chile? Peru? Colombia? Of course not. Bolivia and Ecuador. That's how you get to Harvard and on a stage with Chenoweth and Popovic.

On the one hand, JVD is encouraging cash donations to her weird, yoga mindfulness influencer's for-profit (ostensibly to launder NED-type funds?), on the other she's asking for in-kind [dual use] donations for "firefighting" [& civil resistance.]

It seems pretty clear this donated equipment and money will be used to escalate protests in Santa Cruz rather than to fight fires.

Seems pretty clear the orientation of this "SOSBolivia" campaign is to force Bolivia to declare a state of emergency and/or accept emergency foreign aid specifically so certain types of dual-use donations can reach their NGO destinations easier.

JVD herself is pretty open about making connections between the upcoming election and the fire [and the need for *certain things* to clear Bolivian customs faster] in this US govt backed, campaign

"Open customs and open the border" is JVD's principle demand. It's not about the fire, it's about her and her cohort getting more "civil resistance" gear to launch & sustain an insurrection before/during the upcoming election. Obvio. Mmmm... opportunism.

My hypothesis is still that JVD's "Rios de Pie" CANVASy OsloFF/HRW org is probably afoul of foreign NGO restrictions in Bolivia, which would explain why she's necessarily directing funding through the for-profit Yoga weirdo from Miami's waterthruskin - to avoid any such scrutiny.

Whatever our thoughts on Bolivia's own development projects [and their problems], I really don't think some greenwashed, eco-imperialism/neocolonialism savior project sponsored by US "human rights" orgs with US-trained/funded/oriented local affiliates would be a better way.

If this was all happening domestically and respectable folks like Tom Hayden documented it there [it was and they did], imagine what is *still* permissible in our imperial projects | The CIA’s Student-Activism Phase [by Tom Hayden in 2014]

I would disagree with the title's limited-leakesque insistence it was a "phase" [implying it ever ended at home or abroad], but Hayden is dead and that's probably just the work of editors getting him published in The Nation with a softer title.

This doesn't necessarily mean concern about fires in Bolivia isn't warranted, that there aren't "legitimate grievances" of people against the state in Bolivia or whatever... it just means that *this* Rio de Pies/Vaca-Daza "SOS" project is clearly US astroturfed and *is not that.*
