Following this, the 2 parties have 14 days to appoint a 3rd arbitrator to sit as chair. If this doesn’t happen the FA shall make this decision. The chair then has 14 days to give directions for conduct.

The chair shall then set a date. The tribunal has a range of remedies including determine questions of law, order performance of a contract and order a party to do or refrain from doing anything.

Alternatively, the parties could agree to a settlement before the tribunal settles the dispute...

Another point to note, if the PL refuse to appoint an arbitrator the FA shall make an appointment on their behalf. They’d also be breaching the rules in their own handbook

Purely speculating - Blackstone Chambers deleted their post about being instructed by . Could it be because being instructed by NUFC would remove the QCs impartiality and the intention was for one of the 2 to be NUFC’s arbitrator in this situation?

What we don’t know, of course is the date NUFC invoked arbitration - when the 14 day clock started ticking. Presumably, not today or yesterday.

Agreed, wouldn’t imagine this statement would have been released so soon after commencing proceedings.

To add to this point, this 14 days will have began when initiated arbitration proceedings. Unlikely this was today, the only people who will know when this is are those directly involved in the process.

So, if you had to take a guess, how long could we be waiting for any sort of major decision?

I don’t know how long PL arbitration generally takes unfortunately. I think anyone who gives a time frame at the moment is just speculating.
