Which is to say, since 2015 the Corbyn/Watson ticket has been doomed because the latter profoundly disagrees with the former & members can't adjudicate between the two because PLP won't allow deputy election. Resolving impasse may do huge damage; so does allowing it to continue?

Problem as always is the gulf between PLP and membership. Impossible to test the validity of Watson's 'democratic mandate' because PLP won't allow deputy leadership election. Presumably 'politburo' acting leader would face membership vote within weeks of taking temporary charge?

V. similar to the LDs' disdain for persuading anyone on the Leave side to change their minds. No interest in engaging with the membership except to denounce it as a cult, to bemoan viciousness of online trolls, etc. etc.

TBF to Trudeau the one principle he'd never betray is a man's right to wear his tie loosely.

Let's not get into Trudeau deciding that he was too radical to be a teacher at a high-end "progressive" private school.

The line that runs through these quotes: the real victim here is Trudeau.

The statements from the private school are the breathtaking part: 'Blackface was OK in 2001 but obviously attitudes have moved on.'

Today's Globe & Mail has a sympathetic interview with some white people in Vancouver who went to the 2001 Arabian Nights Gala: "He seemed really into blackface...but not in a negative way."

Check out the interview and see what you think. FWIW Christine's answers were nimble and excellent throughout.

Pro tip for parents: if you let your kids go on the climate march they will then ask to go on the Area 51 Raid.

Epic-level trolling of Financial Times readers. Has someone hijacked their account?

Definitely an interesting question, though I fear it was a sly statement of the "how could we possibly know it was racist?" position. Regardless it was a weird way to frame the issue on the radio when Trudeau was doing this as a 29 year-old in (!) 2001.

I know Cambridge always looks like this when it’s sunny but here’s the latest from the climate march. My kid is in the middle of this looking looked bored and angry, probably at climate change denialists.
