A decent morning down the Nunnery Lakes, the Stonechat that has been around for a couple of days still there, a Goshawk over and the first Tawny Owl I've actually seen down there, thanks to the Great Tit and Song Thrush that gave its presence away!

There's one I see fairly regularly on our reserve at the moment. The other day it came trotting up the track and when it heard my camera shutter, instead of running off, it just stood up for a better look at what was making the noise!

It's been a good autumn for Whinchats down the Nunnery Lakes so far, including my first multiple bird record for the site this morning. Amazingly we haven't had a Redstart yet which are much more regular

After a non-calling probable flyover yesterday, it was good to finally add Tree Pipit to my Nunnery Lakes list this morning, conveniently perching up after flying up out of long grass near where I was standing while watching warblers feeding on brambles

The second year on the trot, a family party of Spotted Flycatcher turns up down the Nunnery Lakes, even though they don't (that we know of) breed on the reserve. Didn't make up for missing the Corn Bunting though!
