Up until the 1960s, it was common for students to take three separate courses in civics and government before they got out of high school. Now only a handful of states require proficiency in civics as a condition of high school graduation.

Charlie Sykes gets to the heart of what happened to the so called "values voter." The voter is there but the values are gone.

One of the harshest lessons of this Trump nightmare is learning how easy it is to to destroy what others dedicated their lives to building.

The cool thing about social media are the amount of people who tell me my interpretation/perception of something is wrong. (And they're mostly men.)

The GOP and evangelicals who have enabled Trump don't fully realize they have jettisoned any ability to occupy the moral high ground on any issue and make any moral argument on anything in the months and years ahead.

Matt, I hope you are right. The apparent negative impact on those making less than $70k a year has not yet been defended, if it can be. We can, at some point, talk about process.I don't think its a process that leads to good things in the future. We'll see, it's a mystery.

Don't get too happy, there will be replacements, but maybe not as many. Just putting these changes into some sort of perspective.

Total truth. That video of Sen. Brown and Sen. Hatch, is telling beyond words. I have always liked and respected Senator Hatch but he does not appear to know what the tax bill does to those making under $70,000 a year, on the whole.

Well said. Truly unbelievable Trump would even get close to this. But he believes he is so good at his game that he does not have to be responsible for anything he says or does because he can talk his way out of it.
