This is an incredible thread of terrible feedback ´translated’ to reveal more about those giving than receiving feedback. Essential reading for ppl & anyone in a team!

"Wow - you're so clear about your priorities that you get so much done in a day and you seem to have energy for more. I need to feel useful in my role and I see that my feedback is not always required to help you in your work & in your development."

Just got refused a Canadian visa I needed to present my poster at . I believe that not everybody fully realizes how much visa issues hurt diversity in academia. So here goes my thread on the topic.

I'm drafting a guidebook on how to 'do' loving feedback in healthcare and assertiveness that promotes peaceful outcomes. It's time for the culture of criticism to end to open into therapeutic and healing communication instead. It's happening!

"You're great at receiving feedback because you're keen to learn & enhance your clinical skillset. I'm surprised at how quickly you took on my feedback & were able to implement it successfully. As a result I don't feel as useful in my role because you've met my expectations."

This thread is so amazing, basically takes examples of vague and negative feedback received by medical students and residents during their training and rewrites them, laying bare the hidden prejudices and traumas of the supervising doctors that gave the feedback.

I'm so glad. You should always be able to hear it & people should always be able to say it. The students/trainees you'll eventually train will benefit from your experience.☺️
