Elk calving has begun! 🤗 Keep at least 25 yards from all wildlife and 100 yards from bears and wolves. Be aware of your surroundings: cow elk may bed their calves near buildings or cars. They can charge or kick people if approached, even if by accident.

First designated in 2016, today’s ceremony included the presentation of the plaque recognizing its designation, along with members of the Evers family, representatives from Tougaloo College, and staff from Vicksburg National Military Park.

The Medgar & Myrlie Evers Home in Mississippi has been added to the National Historic Landmarks Program. The presented a plaque denoting its' new status during a special ceremony in Jackson.
