The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other people—Democrats, Republicans, Arminians, Calvinists, Pro-Lifers, Pro-Choice people, etc. The list goes on. This kind of thinking reveals the state of our hearts. (cf. Luke 18:11)

What is Christian hope? That what God has done for Jesus, He will do for me.

We won’t experience the power of Christ’s resurrection in our lives until we take up our cross and share in His sufferings.

In every Christian, there should be a holy shyness about self and a holy boldness about Jesus.

This is really helpful. Thank you for sharing. Would love to watch/listen to the Pentateuch series especially. Sounds really cool!

Thanks for engaging. I agree God’s glory in Christ is the primary goal. And agree with your secondary goal. There’s a tension b/c we need to zoom out AND zoom in. 3 years on Galatians seems too zoomed in. 3 weeks seems too zoomed out. Though both can accomplish both goals.

I’m easily the most novice here. Huge respect for y’all and agree context matters. My question— what’s the goal in preaching? Goal should determine approach IMO. If goal is to help church know big idea of a book, then larger chunks are necessary. I question if thats the best goal

Hebrews 11:32— "And what more can I say? Time is too short for me to tell about…” // Smart preacher. Trying to learn to stick within my time, too :)

It’s been a long weekend. I studied all the resurrection accounts, outlining the similarities/differences for myself. I preached three times. I got to hear about two people who placed their faith in Christ. Reflecting on it all, I can’t help but say wow— Jesus really is alive.
