Can confirm NYT report () that Barr made a last minute declassification of details about Steele that will be in IG report. Steele was told about this yesterday and was not given a chance to review the new information, which as NYT notes is highly unusual.
The British former spy was told on the eve of its release that a highly anticipated inspector general’s report would contain further information about him than he had expected.

Steele was interviewed extensively by the IG’s office this year and handed over documents. As is standard, he was able to review the portions of the report that mention him. So it’s unclear why he’s been prevented from reviewing/being briefed on the newly declassified info.

Nepotism runs rampant in TrumpWorld: AG Billy Barr’s attorney daughter Mary Barr Daly works in Treasury/FinCEN; Barr’s attorney-son-in-law Tyler McGaughey is White House Counsel; attorney-son-in-law Michael Daly in DOJ, Nat’l Sec Division. Hello, conflict in aisle 45 White House.

Essentially a hit, and almost certainly on Trump’s orders.
