I'm pretty sure you get the same level of heart racing panic when you accidentally hit the "buy now" button on Amazon as you did when you accidentally hit the internet button on your phone in 2008

So glad has our backs. While they do not represent the entire they are the largest bargaining unit in the agency. This reinterpretation of the rehire law has sent many lives and careers careening.

Live a life worth crying over. Tears of love, tears of hate. Tears of joy, tears of misery. Tears of pleasure, tears of anger. Tears of awe, tears of confusion. Tears of compassion, tears of cruelty. Tears of inspiration, tears of reality. Live a life worth crying over.

I went to Coachella for 10 hours to report this story, and I was groped 22 times.

And by the way, your book is absolutely stunning. I love your selection of photos, captions, and dedications. As a lover of national parks, travel, and photography, its an inspiration to me.

A thank you and a hand shake can mean the world to us at the right moment. Even if we seem busy or flustered or agitated, always, always please come talk to us. It can make all the difference.

There actually is a small arm of the National Park Service called "Park Police." They only operate in New York, DC, and San Francisco and are essentially cops, not park rangers. I respect what they do, but never understood why we need them in the NPS.

Being an adult is weird. You get excited about things like finding a great soup spoon at the thrift store.

Asking some great questions! Can anyone direct us to where we might find more information? Our evidence of homelessness among park rangers is anecdotal, but we can only assume that it mimics local rates without a better way to find/collect that information

These are great questions! Unfortunately we don't have the answer or know of any specific collection of this information. If you have ideas on how we could get better data, we're all ears. Our evidence thus far is purely anecdotal

Thanks for amplifying this. So often people visit our parks and rarely stop to consider what's going on "behind" the scenes - right under their noses.

If you have any additional information you can provide on their situation, that would help us investigate, and hopefully explain. Many hiring practices are shady at best though, so there are many things possibly at play in their situation

Another Nasty Woman here, would like to ask some clarifying questions. Do you know if they were actual contractors or "like" contractors? My first guess on their situation is that perhaps they are career seasonal term employees. But without more details, I truly don't know.

I was in the Peace Corps. The people of my host country appreciated my service way more than the people of my home country do.

I'm just not a fan of this "trial by mob" thing we've got going on in this country recently. Boycotting all Starbucks for actions of one employee in one store is misguided; it could end up economically hurting Starbucks employees around the country who had nothing to do w/ this.

So, so true. Raise your hand if you're a NPS employee who is a way overqualified GS-5 or 7, doing the work of TWO GS-9s and getting absolutely no compensation for it! 🙋🏼🙋🙋🏾🙋🏻
