Excellent way of framing it, yes.

It was the Obama administration that installed one of the most surprisingly pro-citizen commissioner of the FCC in decades. True, that's not saying much. But with the FCC, Biden likely won't completely fuck it up.

Join me in donating to the Minnesota Freedom Fund to bail out those arrested protesting the racist murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police. You can do so from outside the US too. Thank you.

Wasn't it about 12 hours ago the Minneapolis prosecutor was doing his "aw shucks" dance about why they couldn't arrest a man who was caught on video murdering someone? Seems like they can just arrest people if they really want to.

A black reporter from CNN was arrested while legally covering the protests in Minneapolis. A white reporter also on the ground was not.

If you call us thugs, you don’t have to call us children. If you call us thugs, you don’t have to call us angry. If you call us thugs, you don’t have to call us heartbroken. If you call us thugs, you don’t have to call us human. You also don’t have to call yourselves complicit.

What we saw in Minneapolis, Louisville, and other cities tonight is what happens when authorities waste time talking around the real problems with policing. Forget looking for the “bad apples.” Any solution that isn’t about structural reform or abolition isn’t worth entertaining.

I'm sure the people who cry FIRST AMENDMENT FREEDOM OF PRESS whenever a racist gets kicked off of YouTube for saying the N-word will be along any second to decry this.

In all the media, this was just about the only correct take on the executive order. Almost everything else was written by people who had no experience and didn't seek any. They accepted Trump's action at face value.

The executive order was empty. It was a loud petulant fart. If you want proof, look no further than the fact that Twitter is still moderating his posts without flinching. It might come to banning Trump. I strongly doubt it, but it might.

In this instance blatant corporate hackery is going to work against Trump, even if it's also accidentally in our best interests. Also the FCC is operating at 3/5 of its full members, because Trump refuses to send new ones for confirmation. He's hobbled them yet demands action.

Meanwhile, the FCC is being steered by a telecom industry hack named Ajit Pai, a former Verizon employee. He was installed to shill for Verizon and uphold their best interests. When his term is over he'll return to their employment. Screwing with Section 230 screws the telecoms.

The FTC is not equipped to police tweets. They don't have the equipment, manpower or budget. They just barely managed to hit Facebook over real violations of the law, and even then it was a wrist slap. But Trump just madly waved his hands at them anyway.

If you missed it, the gist of Trump's executive order was to yell at the FTC and FCC to do something. Both are independent agencies. Members are appointed by the President, but from there they're separate from the executive branch. Trump has no direct authority over them.

Twitter saw the executive order, saw it was bluster, and didn't back down. Next step is to ban him. Let's see if they can grasp the moment or just wilt like always.
