In 2013, NYTWA and our partners won the administration of the Fund after a public Request for Proposals process. Taxi companies financed a lawsuit and the Court struck down the Fund down on the grounds that it required council legislation to empower the TLC’s rulemaking.

NYTWA has been sounding the alarm on predatory leasing in the FHV sector for years. Here is an interview with one of members who is testifying today who was pushed to homelessness because of a predatory lease-to-own agreement from an Uber lending partner
