The Pea Island Interim Bridge has a NEW NAME! Today we officially renamed it for Captain Richard Etheridge, a freed slave who led a heroic Life-Saving Station on the Outer Banks in the late 1800s:

Good news! The Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry route will be resuming service with the 11 a.m. departure from Hatteras and the 12:30 p.m. departure from Ocracoke. Drive carefully, though... some roads are still snow-covered.

If you must be out on the roads, make sure you have basic items on hand: scraper, jumper cables, tow chain, blankets, flashlights, first aid kit, and a road map. Also, slow down and give our crews room to work.

Here's a look at our snowy Hatteras terminal. At this point ALL NC Ferry routes have been suspended due to extreme weather conditions. We will reopen individual routes as it is safe to do so. Stay safe out there!

On Friday, 12/8, the 7:30 a.m. Ocracoke to Cedar Island and the 10:30 a.m. Cedar Island to Ocracoke ferry runs are cancelled while we bring the M/V Silver Lake back into service from the State Shipyard.
