New video shows severe overcrowding of men in cages at Texas detainment facility during VP Pence's visit Friday. A group of men detained behind chain link fencing shouted to news cameras, "No shower, no shower!"

Notice that Pence and the others can't look at the men. They are sort of looking at the wall above their heads, as if there are not even human beings in that cage in front of them.

Pence can't look at them *because* they're human and he knows it.

Yeah. Everything about his expression shows a man using every shred of willpower he has to toe the loyal party line of awfulness and continue having no spine.

I bet he is thinking, furiously, "it's what Jesus wanted, it's what Jesus wanted, it's what Jes..." over and over to square his humanity with Trumpist policy.

in this vid you can hear the guard talk about the guards in the watch tower (as you noted in the zoomed-in pic in another tweet) able to “pull out” anyone who gets too “rowdy.”

Thanks. Watch towers tell us it's a volatile situation, apt to get out of hand at any moment. What would happen if all the men in one of these pens rushed the fence and either tried to push it down, or climb over it ? What would the guards' response be ? What are their orders ?

Two points... The Nazi's came up with mass extermination for the final solution when the camps reached over capacity. Starvation keeps them weak, the cold incapacitates them and fear immobilizes. I've seen it myself in prisons. Demoralizing treatment is effective.

Mass extermination was a goal long before the gas chambers + overcrowding of concen. camps. Einsatzgruppen were shooting Jews and letting their dead bodies fall in mass graves long before the "Final Solution" and gas chambers. tRump et al. are less obvious but are as dangerous!

5000 were executed in one day bc of over crowded Nazi camps. It started with words.

The parallels are disconcerting. tRump and his minions look upon immigrants fleeing injustice and violence in their home countries as vermin. We will all be held to account if we look the other way.

“detainment” is what happens at a long traffic light. This is “despicable”.

It happened because these ppl don’t have visas to come to the US. They are undocumented and to have a legal status they have to apply for a visa or have an sponsor. There is also a voluntary deportation. If they don’t want to be there, they can ask to be send back home.

Seeking asylum is not the same thing as a applying for a visa. Seeking asylum is not illegal in our country.

Do your research, find out how many of them actually come to their given court dates after they are released
