I'm so baffled by that! I love writing, but I don't do it for free. You wouldn't expect a chiropractor to do free adjustments out of joy.

If you have an AS, drag it out. If you don't, get one on ebay for $20. It saved my career.

I hear you. But you know how some people like to shame you if you admit you're doing this job for love AND money. Which I find weird.

I don't know if this helped but I tried. I know we make art but I like to be efficient about it & this is my job, so I want money, too. :)

I lost it in a HUGE way between Nov 16 & March 17. Like, I think if I hadn't bought that Alphasmart I'd have quit. 45 almost wrecked me.

Like, you may have 100 things that you kinda need to do but 99 of them, someone else could blaze through. Your #1 is to write the next book.

Yep, with that off your plate, you'll be amazed at how free and eager to work you feel. To-do lists are SO... constrictive.

The way I look at it is this: anyone can do certain tasks for you, but ONLY you can write your books and earn that money.

I recommend it. It might cost say $80 a month, hourly wage, depending on they're doing, but with that time, you can write more/earn more.

In-progress beta readers serve 2 purposes. 1) they encourage me not to slack off cos they want more & 2) they give notes for 1st revision.

Also, I use beta readers as I write, so I already have feedback to work on. I spend a couple of weeks making it as good as I can on my own.

It depends. Unless I'm about to miss a deadline, I let the book sit for a few weeks while I catch up on other stuff & have fun.

I'm with you. I'd rather add as needed to a lean draft that stress over what to eliminate.
