Math activity with learning buddies in 5/6 today! Ss went for a walk, identified symmetrical shapes and returned to class to discuss lines of symmetry with peers.Then, we checked out Sketchbook on IPads and drew symmetrical pictures! “A cross is symmetrical, Mrs. G!”

After enjoying a Nativity exhibition and learning about the story of Jesus’ birth, students were asked to make their own Nativity! Wonderful examples of learning in Faith and amazing conversation! “I think Jesus should be purple...cause KINGS wear purple!”

Wonderful day spent at ALCDSB Outdoor Learning Education Center investigating seasonal change! Hiking, building shelters, exploring the indoor learning area, treasure hunting, games, and a ferry ride! We are blessed!

This week, Grade 1 and 2 are learning to “choose kindness!” We have read stories, had discussions, wrote reflections, and played games that encourage kindness! Today, we worked with our learning buddies in Grades 7 and 8 to talk about good choices! 😊

Grade 1/2 are working on counting numbers to 20 - number order, subitizing, and counting on! Math games are sneaky and FUN ways to practice foundational math skills! Lots of excitement and Math Talk! 🎲 ,

Today, grades K-3 took time to be thankful in an outdoor prayer service! Students each reflected and wrote about something they are thankful for on feathers. Wishing our families a very blessed Thanksgiving! 🦃

Last week, we were apple crazy! Reading about apples, apple art, apple picking and apple writing. We even made apple sauce! It was a delicious week! 🍎👨‍🍳

Grade 1 and 2 had a wonderful time checking out a local apple orchard today! We learned how to properly pick apples and filled reusable bags with healthy treats! Tomorrow, we will make apple sauce! Thank you, God, for nutritious apples!

Fun measurement activity from VanDeWalle - “Crooked Paths.” Ss guessed, then measured the length of chalk lines. An interesting discussion ensued - then we made connections to places we visit (movies, Walmart) that have line-ups!

Exploring non-standard measurement this week in a variety of activities! We can use lots of tools to measure! The favorite so far is the marshmallow station. I wonder why?! 😂

We have been learning about energy! In a Maker Space activity today, we made rockets and talked about how wind can be used to create movement! Finally, we measured distances travelled! What a great “launch” for a unit! 🤓🌏
