My GCSE Results never mattered hugely but as a working class kid from a “rough” comp WHERE I did them has continued to haunt my life. Even this month, at 35 with a BA, MA, PGCE And PhD apparently this matters to some people (thread)

Answer depends how counted: 4 totals: min for any 1 pupil (exc eg Gaelic, Classics) = 986, max 1080. Total unique = 1167. Total printed (RoAs & Lit+Eng/Lit+Gai repeated in original) = 1499. Figures may not be 100% accurate. But is if you need to check! ;-)

If you're in Edinburgh, don't miss this important session in the week after . Also other sessions over weekend, including Antony Seldon on AI on Sunday. Won't see you there, unfortunately: my final day in Edinburgh for a while was today.

Second this after lovely pm when I read about Edinburgh in Princes Street Gdns. Although have just finished John Krakauer's 'Into the Wild' in prep for tutoring this term, and glad I did not read it while dying from berry-poisoning in an old bus in the Alaskan wilderness!

> I'm glad I was for my PGDE experience. For me, the biggest problems with the current ITE system in Scotland are systemic, esp the very tight 9 month ITE for postgrad. There needs to be universal less hurried option, esp for primary and for postgrads like me with ASN.

Good to talk for 90 mins this am to from Measuring Quality in ITE for anyone who started ITE anywhere in Scotland in past 3 years (inc those, like me, who didn't finish). Good to explain highs, lows, & which hurdles were, for me, in 2017-19, impassable.>

Thanks for these. A number of ones I have read, and more that I haven't. I've also found bell hooks 'Teaching to Trangress: Education as the Practice of Freedom' very useful.

Great to catch cycle-powered outside . They do school visits, and is - inter alia - the David Wood (ie top children's theatre writer/director/producer) of the new millennium. Or catch them Sat/Sun on Bristo Sq at 11am, 1pm, 3pm for free!

The SLF is largely a waste of time and money. The vast majority of teachers can't attend, and it is essentially a playground for consultants, secondees and edu-businesses. The whole thing should be scrapped and rebuilt from the ground up.
