That’s unfortunate. As you point out though, regardless of particular individual circumstances, you still will ideally need a strategy(ies) to prepare for & handle fall(s) to the best of your ability anyway.

While techniques such as the sprawls and rolls can be learned, the best fall prevention is found in improved movement competency, especially single-leg balancing, but also alertness and responsiveness.

In a “normal” society, it’s OK to just be an onlooker with no ability to respond. In a trained society, dozens of onlookers would start scaling the building to save that child.
