I did a PGCE and have mentored both. The major difference I find is with SD you spend most of the year in one school and possibly less time at uni. My school has a separate company for training and SD do uni days, SD training days and school days so it’s quite intense

We had a horrible HoF at the time and she would β€œrefuse” to lend the equipment publicly but put it on their desk in the hall so they still had it. All that did was stress out a worried kid even more.

We once had the whole cohort held in a different hall before letting them into the exam just to check equipment. We didn’t have enough calculators to lend, we had to open up loads that we for sale because of course, they didn’t bring money to buy one.

I’m with you. I have a single book case with 3 shelves. It’s not enough but I have a clear out every couple of years to make room for new ones. I often give books to my students once I’ve read them and know I won’t read it again.

We have an afterschool maths club and normal homework club they can attend. We find most just access hegarty on their phones.

It’s not easy. I find it easier to annotate observation write ups with reference to each sub point and then refer to this in the final write up. It’s not easy though, I hate these reports

A long shot but if you’d be kind enough to retweet then you never know. We are looking for a generous company who could provide/donate an under canvas huge tent thing for our school field on Suffolk to help with social distancing at our school and also to have some fun with!

3) top tip- inform parents. For most, they don’t want their mum to know they haven’t been doing their work. Also follow the behaviour policy, it’s been written for the kids in that school. Consistency is key.

2) we don’t have traffic lights. I’m secondary maths. We have class charts. They get a warning, they get a negative point and if behaviour continues a detention. The way our class charts is set, different behaviours are worth different consequences so sometimes it’s auto det

On his mood but to over come the worst of it I got to know him. I would settle him by chatting about his mum and sister and cars and then things were ok.

1) boy constantly disrupting the lesson. Silly noises. Singing. Arriving late and making a big entrance. This started on day 1. I was going through the behaviour expectations at the time. He wasn’t following them. I sent him to my HoF. It continued on and off all year depending

I once was marked down in a book scrutiny because my students wrote the title instead of the learning objective

I’ve been using explain everything but have gone to a stylus as my cheap pencil clicks too loudly. I can’t write nearly with it. Is that easier with the Apple Pencil?

We probably bought the same one but I don’t like it. It makes too much noise clicking on the screen and has gappy writing.

I just don’t see how it’s different to a normal stylus. I bought a cheap version and I don’t understand how it works or what it’s supposed to do differently

Hey . I’ve seen loads of people buying iPads recently. I did the same about a month ago but chose not to get the amazon pencil. Is it worth Β£80? How does it work?
