Let’s remember DUP Sammy Wilson who in the 1990s thought that deportation and internment were ‘realistic’ ways to deal with Northern Irish Catholics.

If there’s anyone reading this who would usually say that the phrase ‘strong Jewish lobby’ (in the US) is antisemitic, can you say whether you think Margaret H’s way of saying it is/is not antisemitic? (Let’s stay polite).

It's in direct contravention of the United Declaration of Human Rights formulated, as I'm sure you know Michael, to ensure events like the removal of citizenship from Germany's pre-war Jewish population could not be repeated. Terrifying times.

Can anyone confirm or deny that Margaret Hodge did or did not use the phrase ‘Jewish lobby ‘ on radio this week. If she did, was it straight (ie her preferred term) or ironic or quoting someone else?

I’ve just emailed my complaint to ITV. I’m awaiting their response with bated breathe. Not sure what I’ve accomplished but I do feel better by taking this action. The email address is gmb@ if anyone is interested in doing the same.

One of the ways to be ideological is to announce that you’re free of ideology. Even the idea that a person could theoretically be non-ideological is an ideological position. Thereafter there are all that person’s views, positions, outlooks and ideas, all of which are ideological.

Yes. The moment ‘citizenship’ becomes fluid and revocable in the hands of the Home Secretary, we are all in serious trouble. It requires surveillance, terror and incarceration to implement.

Richard Madeley and Kate McGarrigle were interviewing Tom Bower and Mike Segalov on ( I think) Good Morning Britain. Tom called Mike a ‘self-hating Jew’. Mike objected. R and K said nothing.

Ok. It wasn’t meant impolitely. I meant that a) you’re entitled to make the charge but b) as it’s a charge about some people? A group? A type? it needs at least some flesh and bones on it so we can debate it: eg ‘Yes, she is like that’ Or ‘No, he’s not like that’ etc.!
