The Appeal Nov 11
Nearly 34,000 Orange County prisoners' calls to their attorneys were recorded, not the 1,079 originally reported. And the calls were accessed 347 times, not 87 as first reported. “They have not explained why the numbers are different, why they’ve grown."

DHS and DOJ think that the ACLU is disdainful of the law. For suing the government. For violating the law. Come. 👏🏼 On. 👏🏼

The Trump administration’s attempts to withhold public safety dollars from our state is unjust, dangerous, and unconstitutional. All Oregonians, regardless of their immigration status, deserve to have the full protection of our law enforcement.

BREAKING: We just filed a lawsuit to challenge the president’s new asylum ban. Neither the president nor his cabinet can override the clear commands of our law, but that’s exactly what they’re trying to do. We’ll see him in court.

Asked by if there were any tweaks the council could make to the current proposal to avoid legal hangups, a lawyer with the ACLU put it bluntly: “I don’t think this ordinance can be fixed.”

This morning was one of the highlights of my career. We welcomed Michalle Wright, a transgender prisoner who fought and won her case to get hormone treatment and appropriate housing, back into the world. She is going to make Oregon a better place for LGBTQ+ people.
