By the next General Election we must have rid our party of the scourge of antisemitism and we must show leadership on the biggest issues of the day not appear to seek to run away from them.

Thank you everyone who put their trust in me in @wrexham yesterday and particularly to my campaign team who could not have done more.
There are serious questions for my party to answer about what went wrong nationally. We have let down those who needed a Labour Government most.

It is clear the leader must go - he was by far the biggest issue on the doorstep - but this is about more than one man.
By the next general election we must have a clear costed programme with clear implementation plans to put before the British people to win back their trust.

We could do worse than listen to Nye Bevan:
“The language of priorities is the religion of socialism” and
“We know what happens to those who stay in the middle of the road they get run down.”

I would like to thank everyone who campaigned for me from the bottom of my heart. We came together from the broad swathe of the labour movement with the common aim of changing our country for the better.

We must now come together to rebuild our party to once again take on its historic mission of winning elections to change the lives of the people of our country for the better.
