Monday becomes Tuesday in Northern Ireland, and with it the decriminalisation of abortion and the legalisation of same-sex marriage. One of the most extraordinary yet understated political developments in NI in years.

“The idea that any one person would decide that we would return to violence on the island of Ireland is repugnant to me.” Mairead McGuinness condemns the New IRA after they told Channel 4 News that any Brexit border infrastructure would be a “legitimate target for attack”.

Northern Ireland borders, Brexit, unification, terrorism, conflicts of identities. It seems no matter the outcome of Brexit there is likely to be trouble

is now saying it's this deal or no deal but I think this is a tactic b/c the EU knows that Boris Johnson's govt is a government in name only as it doesn't command a majority in the Commons.

So my understanding is: Boris Johnson decided to do deal without the DUP. He knows he won't get the deal through parliament, but he will get what he always wanted - a general election with a deal that he can wave at the electorate.

We have Agreement that allows UK leave EU in orderly way. We have unique solution for NI that respects unique history and geography. Its good for Ireland and NI. No hard border. All-island and East-West economy can continue thrive. Protects Single Market & our place in it

Listened to some lad there on the news bordersplaining Northern Ireland and saying oh it’s all about identity politics. As if that was some weird thing Irish people do. Have you seen the f***ing state of Brexit? How do you think that happened?

Borders and Smarties! The problem all along is political ignorance of social issues in N. Ireland. Politicians don't even go there because they have no knowledge. Money, economics, statistics are too easy to use. Well done for challenging this idiot

DUP finds itself caught between the devil and the Irish Sea. Reject the prime minister’s deal and usher in an economy-wrecking no deal, or endorse it and risk unionist wrath at home?

Explore the Border | The Irish Times This is just brilliant. Every single border crossing point mapped and, if you click on any one, it will tell its story during the troubles. Top job ⁦
