Joe Ross has been optioned to Fresno, a bit of a surprise. James Bourque, who had a 1.33 ERA and 33 strikeouts in only 20 1/3 innings at Harrisburg, promoted to make his MLB debut.

His ERA was 9.22. Where’s the surprise?

I believe he is touted to be the closer of the future for the Nats. Interested in seeing how he does.

His control has fluctuated wildly throughout his career. Hope it’s just improved and he’s figured something out. We could sure use the arm.

For some reason, every time I say his name I think of the swedish chef from the Muppets.

I remember when Joe Ross got pulled the other night & turned his back to Davey I thought he would get DFA by Rizzo. I remember what happened to Shawn Kelley.

I had so many questions that day. Why pull Ross after one batter? If it was planned as a matchup, you'd think the reliever would've been aware prior to taking the mound. Constantly throwing the bullpen under the bus doesn't seem to be creating the change we're looking for.

Joe didn’t look very happy when he was taken out the other day

This is pay back for "disrespecting" Davey. At least they didn't trade him for nothing or outright cut him.

The way this bullpen has been, I would be happy with being traded or cut

When you come into the game and hit batters, you're not going to stick around. Ross is still finding his groove, let him find it in Fresno.

Not a surprise for those of us who "endured" Joe's last few appearances. 😖

Are they going to try and stretch him out, so he can be a starter again?

Not that surprising, he needs to be stretched back into a starter anyways. The reliever experiment didn't work.

Think Ross needs a fresh start. This org clearly does not believe in him any longer. I frankly can’t believe he didn’t get a shot over Hellicksom for the 5th spot.

Why not give the hot arm a chance. I’m excited to see him throw and what he brings. One positive that we can take from the way the season has developed is that we can pull players up from the minors and see how they do which will help with their development and maybe find a gem
