I think these issues are inevitable with very large datasets, and don’t necessarily change conclusions radically, but the reporting needs to flag all of this.

At the very least it would useful to look at father-child pairs as a negative control that takes into account shared residual confounding. Most studies of intrauterine exposure lack this...
