This isn’t just bad policy but another attack on checks and balances. I look forward to working with colleagues on both sides to fix it.

It's amazing that even , the bipartisan Violence Against Women Act, is blocked in the Senate. The House is passing bills to protect health care, lower drug prices, fight gun violence. Many of these bills could pass the Senate. Time for McConnell to let his people vote.

.: President Nixon was under investigation when he signed into law the landmark, bipartisan Federal Aid Highway Act of 1973, amidst the concurrent Watergate hearings in Congress. Yes, we can investigate and legislate.

Advanced hacking tools that our intel agencies developed to catch terrorists shouldn't be sold on the open market to dictatorships that spy on Americans. I led a bipartisan call to regulate surveillance tech.

Former USMC Commandant General (Ret) Krulak on Trump's Memorial Day pardons: "indiscriminate pardons" for war crimes would "relinquish the United States’ moral high ground and undermine the good order and discipline critical to winning on the battlefield."

Absent evidence of innocence or injustice the wholesale pardon of US servicemembers accused of war crimes signals our troops and allies that we don’t take the Law of Armed Conflict seriously. Bad message. Bad precedent. Abdication of moral responsibility. Risk to us.

I sincerely hope the Joint Chiefs will persuade the president not to defile Memorial Day by turning it into a celebration of war crimes and of soldiers defying military ethics, discipline and order.

Today is a historic, monumental day in Congress. For the first time, we have passed comprehensive legislation that would extend federal civil rights protections to the LGBT community.

BREAKING: House passes legislation to reduce drug costs and protect pre-existing conditions. Trump and most R Senators frequently say they believe in these things. Now is the time to hold people to that.

Here is the exemplary call to fight online extremism that the administration refused to sign. Read it, and see if you can find any reason to be against this other than wanting to protect white nationalists.

I don't know what the administration plans to do on Iran, and doubt it has a coherent plan. But I know that a war of choice with Iraq profoundly weakened America's global leadership. A war of choice with Iran will break it.

Now the administration is citing threats to our troops to justify a military build-up. It is either lying (as statements from our allies suggest), or demonstrating how irresponsible it was to dismiss the Pentagon's warnings.
