The most unsafe I’ve felt in the States wasn’t in the middle of rural Indiana surrounded by people that voted McCain, Romney, and almost certainly Trump. It was when people calling themselves my allies began to ask why I wasn’t being “pragmatic” about my continued dehumanisation.

This is also why I did a serious /eyeroll at the handwringing over the Muslim Ban and Muslim Travel List that liberals *suddenly* decided to use as major talking points in 2016. Like, uh, are we gonna pretend as if the list wasn’t constructed right after 9/11???
