CofE in Blackburn has responded to the Panorama doc - says it missed inter-faith work & CofE schools are "beacons of healthy community integration" ( you might be interested in P&E update)

"For many poorer parents, however, “reading to the child, stimulating a child, however commonsensical that is, comes as a revelation”" But not all - large numbers of poorer parents read to their kids every day for example. Many other factors involved

Really interesting on Roman Catholic church in DRC - speaking out against human rights abuses & now a lightning rod for protests. "The Catholic Church is one of the few institutions in Congo to enjoy broad credibility."

I sometimes think zoning in on an ethic/religious separation misses a bigger picture. A *lot* of people don't know their neighbours. Post-Grenfell, people who'd never been in a high rise etc

That was fascinating.I think in that instance, integration wasn't really on the cards. But often I think the question "do you want to mix with others?" is challenging for most people.Joining things is generally in decline.Even in church people moan about having to say the Peace!

Hmm interesting. I think Gogglebox always makes me think we actually have quite a lot in common! Although I guess the more "extremes" on all sides aren't really represented there

Interesting on faith schools, & lack of mixing. I wonder if non-faith schools would be different - if they go by catchment area, potentially not? Guy in the film talks about being "ferried from one end to the other - why can't that be done now?"

Social media can be like that. But I think in other spaces it's different
