Fight your biases: support for political violence is *not* higher among conservatives in US. It is higher among liberals. Data from @YouGov, N=1,513 and r=-.18. DV is @sophiamoskalen1's measure of violent activism. Example of biased argument is here: evolution-institute.org/conservative-e… pic.twitter.com/S8BxCq3Kh7

Do you have this disaggregated by scale item? Here is (what I presume to be) the scale, only one item of which I think is fair to describe as "support for political violence"

To be precise, I have used an adaptation of the scale from @g_oluf. But items 6-8 are part of this scale, yes. Which item are you specifically interested in?

I read the argument, it posits throughout "conservative extremism." I don't think your "very conservative/liberal" gets even close to what they are implying by "extreme" ideological position.

That is a fair point. The research that they cite, however, is on general conservatism rather than conservative extremism. But, yes, extremists - both on the left and the right - are always more prone to violence.

Definitely no asymmetry in opinions. That's consistent with @LilyMasonPhD & my partisan violence index by party ID (left image, r=-.04), and ideology ID (right image, r=.00). 2018 CCES (YouGov) data, & same result in our 2017 & 2019 datasets across a broad range of violent items. pic.twitter.com/kbuQll5wkK

Are there any survey research on more specific ideologies (e.g., marxism, fascism)?

I'm not surprised by this at all. Liberals by definition are trying to fight for progress. And with the fight for progress comes strong emotional responses sometimes. Doesn't mean I support violence but conservatives are by definition.... conservative.
