BREAKING: If you shout "Andy's dad is coming" in the parks, the Toy Story characters will start screaming alternate facts.

Well, that would explain where all these notifications are coming from all of a sudden.

Yeah it's always a bit jarring when you see it for sure

Yeah, I know it's been quite a while since that rule was in effect at WDW if it ever was.

Apparently the io9 article about the offscreen backstory for Andy's dad is totally fake. Thank goodness 😅

(Personally I don't really care. Just explaining their viewpoint.)

I think the people that think it's bad would say the CMs should change before being out in public... I think that actually used to be a rule

If you don't want to be constrained by even the loosest adherence to SW canon, why make a SW attraction? Just do something new and original.

I can't speak for Andy, but as a Star Wars fan it bugs me that 0 effort went into trying to create a story that makes any sense.

It wasn't "this would be too expensive to build so just use screens" it was "this is the best if not only way to create this experience."

Also extremely pertinent IMHO: the source material lent itself very well to (arguably required) a video-based experience.

Flight of Passage and Shanghai Pirates definitely come the closest. I think the edge goes to the latter for large, quality physical sets.

The good news is the construction permit that's been circulating would leave room for Impressions to survive... We can hope!

Yeah. That's one of many reasons that ride is just not remotely convincing/immersive/effective. At least it has a nice queue/area.

I think Ratatouille is honestly in the conversation with Incredibles, Up, Toy Story, and Wall-E as Pixar's best ever.

Literally my only concern with the Ratatouille rumors.

Well, also that no one in a position to make budget decisions within TWDC still believes in the philosophy behind EPCOT Center.

Knowing that makes it hard to let go. There is no fully satisfying replacement.

Even TDS, as wonderful/perfect as it is, doesn't have full scope of EPCOT Center's ambition. What EPCOT Center aspired to won't happen again

I think what also tortures so many of us is no other theme park has ever achieved what EPCOT Center did, or even really attempted it.
