Our Director of Food Regulation, Paul Dansted, spoke about our food safety system on (Radio NZ) yesterday. He reminds consumers to look out for evidence of tampering or issues with packaging, and to report concerns to retailers or to us.

Release: Sentencing for bobby calf abuse Owner of a pet food company has been given 6 months' community detention, 180 hours' community work, & banned from owning or exercising authority over production animals for 5 years. His company was fined $90,000.

Minister of Fisheries Stuart Nash has announced changes to commercial & recreational fishing limits for 32 fish stocks. The changes are part of a twice yearly sustainability review of fish stocks, that uses scientific info & public consultation feedback.

The amended regulations to permit hemp seed as food are likely to be in force by early December 2018. A decision will be announced in mid-November.

The Dogs code of welfare states that “dogs must to receive daily exercise sufficient to maintain their health and well-being”. Recommended best practice is for dogs to have at least 60 minutes every day off the lead or chain, or out of the run. 1/2

Hi , it is great you would like to help the needy. Homekill meat has not gone through the regulated checks and balances for food safety, so there’s a greater risk it could make you sick. 1/2
