What I’m saying is...any wealthy benefactors out there wanna set up some museum fellowships/internships/legit paid positions for students to learn & get exposure to collections work without starving to death. Cool thx.

Unfortunately, access to collections and opportunities to get involved in specimen prep or any collections work is a problem. Opportunities are few and far between which means only those who can afford to volunteer copious amounts of time make it in. This needs to change.

I showed them the techniques used to prep a bird & mammal specimen and talked about why collections exist. Most of the students were , so of course I emphasized the importance of artists in as a tool to promote !

Had a BLAST yesterday running a study skin demo for the Natural History Illustration Club ! Thank you to all who organized & attended. Students need more early exposure to & the science that takes place in them, this is one way to do it!
