As a kid, my family relied on SNAP. It’s a critical program that literally keeps food in the bellies of Minnesotans. I am proud that is standing up for thousands of Minnesotans and suing the Trump Administration over their devastating cuts to food assistance.

We're also recommending that local governments who receive funding meet equal pay and workforce participation goals to create more career opportunities for women, people of color, and others under-represented in the construction industry. It’s long overdue.

We’re working to ensure Minnesotans of all backgrounds benefit from our Local Jobs and Projects Plan. Because in order to create where the diverse communities across our state are thriving, we must invest in meaningful initiatives that support communities of color.

For too long, communities of color and Native communities have been left out of state initiatives that foster growth and opportunity. That's why we proactively sought out requests from communities that have not traditionally participated in the state bonding process.

We are SO proud to have Jessica Oaxaca on our team as Deputy Press Secretary. She is bright and talented, and we are grateful for her service to the State of Minnesota. Plus, she was the state speech champ!

This is about setting a solid foundation for the work we will continue to do around housing to make sure that when our fellow Minnesotans think about home, they too have warm memories of loved ones, comfort, safety, and community.

That’s why and I are proposing a historic $200 million in housing infrastructure bonds to create new housing across the state — which alone more than doubles the proposed housing investment by any previous Administration.

Housing is a fundamental building block to strong people, strong communities, and a strong economy — and it deserves more than our words and well-wishes.

From protecting health care for 1.2 mil Minnesotans to taking bold climate action to investing in our children and families, we’ve accomplished so much in 1 year. We still have work to do. And I am grateful to keep working to improve the lives of all Minnesotans.

2019 has brought new beginnings and exciting challenges, new friends and familiar faces, and a whole lot of love and laughter. I was inaugurated as Lt. Governor, married the love of my life, and taught our kiddo to ride her bike without training wheels.
