It’s hard not to when it’s around us so much isn’t it? I still do it now, it’s a bad habit, I have to remind myself that it’s not a true reflection of life

It's tough not to 'enjoy' the day if that's how it pans out, but be kind to yourself, you will do your best and that is enough x

Don’t compare yourself to others on social media, it’s a highlight reel - I shared this picture a few years ago, one cleverly positioned photo didn’t show the true state of the room!

It’s such a busy time for parents, I have to work hard to prep and organise myself so I can still fit in some self care to keep myself well and balanced, took time to learn to do that x

Nowadays I love it just like I did pre PND, when I was unwell I struggled with not meeting “perfect expectations” I put on myself

So true! Loads of women get misdiagnosed. Primary care screen for depression and often try to use that as a catch all diagnosis. Around 30% of women find some aspect of their birth traumatic. It’s important we hear women’s birth stories and validate and honour their distress.

Anecdotally we hear of quite a few mums who don't get a prompt diagnosis as can present differently but be categorised as PND when in fact treatment differs (ie. sensitive exposure/emdr) Hope you're on the road to recovery

I think there are a lot of women with birth trauma, it doesn’t have to be PTSD but is different to depression or can coexist with depression, anxiety or OCD.There is a more variable mood with lows, irritability and fear along with constantly reliving and replaying the birth.

Keen to learn some more to better support those who come to our group, birth comes up quite a lot & we had a Midwife come in to answer any questions they may have

I didn’t realise until v.recently, after hearing speak that I possibly had ptsd after my 1st birth, I had terrible flashbacks both day and night, couldn’t sleep & looking back it could have been a contributing factor to my anxiety post birth
