This poster in our collection is from Southern Railway and dates from 1936. It shows a boy waiting at Waterloo station next to the N15 King Arthur class 4-6-0 locomotive No 755, 'The Red Knight'. Who else is planning their next holiday?

Sorry, here's the relevant tweet - looks like it unfortunately broke down again shortly before you got there. I believe they've had a few issues with that lift recently.

The escalators from Waterloo Road to the main concourse level are ours. If you use them at peak times you may find they've been reversed or halted to manage crowding, as per the poster there. No. 6 is out of action awaiting replacement step chain rollers.

We didn't have any lift faults that day and when one of them is out of action we use service lifts to maintain step free access. Sophie, sorry to hear about the problems with your journey. It looks like the lift in question was 's Jubilee Line lift?

It would be nice if we could claim to have our own weather system, but the reality is rather more mundane unfortunately...

Apparently some of your crew had an extended stay here yesterday... how long did it take them to unfreeze the mast on the broadcast truck? 😀

Yes, it blows in through the ventilation gaps. Thankfully our cleaning team has managed to thaw out the floor cleaning machines!

The station was built for steam trains, is still used by diesel trains and becomes a great big greenhouse in summer - you'd miss the ventilation if it wasn't there!

"Snow loading" is factored into roof design, and this one's been up for around a century so they seem to have got it right 😀 Each pane is made of wired or laminated glass so even if it is damaged the whole pane remains held firmly in place by the frame.
