This week I signed our $628 million Earthquake Safety and Emergency Response Bond on to the 2020 March ballot, which passed the Board unanimously. This funding is critical to upgrading our facilities so our first responders are ready and able to respond when disaster strikes.

The SF Board of Supervisors killed Mayor London Breed’s proposed charter amendment to streamline approval for affordable housing. – "I’m tired of people saying we’re in a housing crisis and then rejecting solutions that will actually make a difference."

San Francisco is and always will be a sanctuary city that stands up for our immigrant residents. With possible ICE raids happening this weekend, we want our entire community to be prepared and know their rights.

I’m tired of people saying we’re in a housing crisis, then rejecting solutions that will make a difference. The status quo means less affordable housing will be built, more people will be priced out, and the crisis will only get worse. We have to do better for the people of SF.

If we can’t even get behind a plan to remove the barriers that get in the way of 100% affordable housing, how are we ever going to solve the housing crisis that is pushing out teachers, janitors, restaurant workers, and so many other low- and middle-income San Franciscans?

Today the Board killed my Charter Amendment to streamline the creation of 100% affordable & teacher housing. It is estimated that per project it would have saved an average of 6-18 months and $1.5 to $6 million. This represents 6-22 more affordable homes per project.

This is great. When we invest in our neighborhoods, we not only support our local economy but also empower our residents and strengthen our community.

We just passed legislation with Sup. to strengthen the City's conservatorship laws. This will help provide the sustained care and services that people who are suffering from severe mental health and addiction issues on our streets need.

Great news! As a first step, cut the cost of phone calls in SF jails by 50%, effective immediately. All calls will now be 8¢/minute as the city works to make all calls free over the next year. Thanks

We are in a housing crisis that is pushing out our low- and middle-income residents and we desperately need more affordable housing. Our $600 million affordable housing bond is key to getting these projects funded and built.
