What's the fantasy or SF book that's not some big famous award winning thing that you think I should read?

In a sea of people reccing award-winning stuff anyway, I saw no one reccing Lois McMaster Bujold, which seems incredible to me, unless they're assuming you've certainly read the Vorkosigan saga already.

a bunch of folks did. I have read all of them! I also TA'd for a class she was taking once before she wrote her "Spain" series.

She didnโ€™t like taking in class tests because it was like letting people read her first drafts

and other than that I never comment on student work. :) But we've met many times as she's local to the Twin Cities fandom so we've been at the same cons.

's Vlad Taltos series. "The Book of Jhereg" is the first volume or just Jhereg if you prefer to buy them separately. 's Monster is quite great as well. Lastly, David Weber's March Upcountry series is great. (Jhereg fanart of Vlad Taltos and Loiosh)

I don't think my opinion counts for much in this, but I agree.

no one asked for your opinion about Brust's best work, Steven. :) But also I'm glad you agree I'm right.

Good I don't need to come here and say this again then. But also, Cowboy Feng's Spacebar and Grill sits comfortably in my #2 spot

I'm pretty sure that you already read 's City in the Middle of the Night, right? I just finished and it was amazing and heartbreaking so I'll plug it anyway since it has to wait til next year to win the Hugo. Have you read any Guy Gavriel Kay?

Hah, yes, actually, I guess I did read that whenever you wrote it. But everyone else on the thread should also read it. And then they should buy City as well. And then buy a second copy for a friend. So I regret nothing.
