Our children have 10% reduced lung growth due to exposure as they travel & attend schools on main roads. Will you help them?

Only a small percentage of vehicles on our roads use stop start technology and I completely agree that drivers should not be able to overide a function that reduces and . Do you think a change to the law is required?

We should have digital timers on traffic lights - so you know if they will cause a short or long delay. Anything more than 30 seconds (perhaps less with some cars) means its more economical to turn off your engine. All new cars should have auto stop-start as standard.

Yes, driver facing countdown timers would help drivers decide when to switch off their vehicle engine. For many cars, as little as 7 seconds idling is equivalent to an engine restart. i agree, all new cars should have stop-start as standard.

Thanks, signed. Alas, that would need the council to actually care, and certainly does not (despite having some of the worst air quality in the country)

Thank you for signing and sharing our petition. When the authorities are not protecting children we have to take responsibility away from them and do it ourselves.

That’s amazing. Thank you so much. I was going to make an attempt at something like this but thankfully someone with more creative talent like you executed it much better than I ever could. Thanks again

A council authorised person can issue a FPN once they have identified themselves and requestd the motorist switch off their vehicle engine. 99% comply so no fines are issued even if the motorist idles for an hour everyday. Time to change the law? NO2idling

Thank you Yair. I hope my actions do inspire a change to reduce children's exposure. Every extra metre between a child's face and a vehicle exhaust pipe means less damage to their lungs. Every vehicle engine switched off rather than idling means cleaner air for all.

Those results are from Galveston Road bus stop where the SCR meets the A3 in Wandsworth. If the TfL Directors making the decisions had to wait at bus stops watching their children breathe 190 school days a year, things would be very different.

That's very kind of you Lou. Hopefully what I do will help to reduce exposure for everyone, particularly for children who trust us with their health.

Q. What's the quickest way to reduce children's exposure? A. Increase the distance between a child's face and vehicle exhaust pipes. Yes, actually, it really is that simple.

I spent £6k on the most mature monitor and measured my children breathe. I've painfully put myself in front of cameras to share the scary results as widely as possible and burnt bridges telling the truth. How far will I go to protect my kids? Let's see..

Children use our road 4 many reasons: they live here, they’re walking 2 4 fresh air, it’s their walking route 2 school, or their schools route 2 use the park 4 PE. What do they all have in common?Breathing thick pollution!

Experts have been telling us not to build schools near busy roads for years, so why has this council chosen to build a school next to roads with illegal levels of when there were better sites available?

Hi Tom, is traffic always flowing or are their times when the road is saturated with idling vehicles which produce twice the emissions as moving vehicles? We monitored on the A3 outside a nursery. The highest levels of is when traffic is .
